Device for earmarking animals DESCRIPTION The invention relates to a device for earmarking cattle, in particular piglets, comprising applying an ear tag through the external ear. To this end, the invention provides a device for earmarking livestock, in particular piglets, comprising arranging an ear tag through the outer ear, comprising a male part with a sharp penetration part, adapted to pass through one side of the outer ear through that external ear, and a female member with a receiving member adapted to receive and secure that penetration member on the other side of the outer ear; which device comprises - a first magazine module adapted to contain and present male ear tag parts at a first outlet, and a second warehouse module adapted to contain and present female ear tag parts to a second outlet; - a feed-through module, arranged for feeding control pair from the first and second magazine module, in pairs, one male and one female ear tag part to a processing module; - which processing module, arranged for fitting the ear tag in the external ear concerned, comprises o a first receiving part, arranged for receiving a male ear tag part from the feed-through module, o a second receiving part arranged for receiving a female ear tag from the feed-through module ear tag part, o a space for placing the relevant external ear between the first and second receiving part, o drive means for driving the male and / or female ear tag part under control of the control means during a work stroke such that the penetration part of the male ear tag part starts one side of the outer ear penetrates through that outer ear and is received and secured on the other side of the outer ear by the receiving part of the female ear tag part; wherein the drive means of the processing module comprise a (preferably pneumatic) drive cylinder which is adapted to move the first and second ear tag parts towards each other under the control of the control means during the working stroke. By making use of a drive cylinder and suitable control means, the ear tag process can be carried out ergonomically better, more reliably, more hygienically and more efficiently. An aspect, which will be further discussed below, is that use can be made of warehouse modules with male and female ear tag parts. The processing module thus comprises a drive cylinder with which the actual eartags are performed during the work stroke. The first receiving part is provided with release means, adapted to release the male ear tag parts in time. Said releasing means comprise, for example, one or more spring elements, arranged for receiving the male ear tag part and releasing therefrom under the influence of the force exerted on the ear tag part by the drive cylinder. Preferably, the male ear tag part is moved by the drive cylinder of the processing module during the work stroke while the female ear tag part has a substantially fixed position during the work stroke. Furthermore, it is preferred that the movements of the drive cylinder in the processing module during its work and return stroke are substantially vertical, the female ear tag part preferably being below and the male ear tag part above. The device preferably uses magazine modules with male and female ear tag parts. The first and / or second warehouse module preferably comprises one or more parallel supply paths with guide means, arranged such that each of the supply paths comprises a plurality of male and female paths respectively. female ear tag parts and that those ear tag parts under the influence of their own mass in the direction of the first resp. second output.
